E-mails from Elder Summerhays, September 9, 2008

“Hi! I´m great! I was afraid you would be really sad and worried that you didn´t hear from me last week, but I am doing great. I was transferred to another state called Mina Gerais. It´s really far away and I was on a bus for like 7 hours, but it was a nice rest, haha. I read all of your emails already and you sound great, the camping, the school, the pictures the fathers blessing everything. I cried here in the internet café as I read my blessing. Thank you dad!

My new companion is Elder Bakker and he is great! He is a big teddy bear that gives huge hugs and makes you smile all the time. He teaches really, really well and I already know that we are going to have a lot of success. I promise 10 baptisms this transfer. Also I borrowed a tape recorder and listened to you all, that was really great. You are all so silly. Taylor didn´t know what to say, and I think Dad was either really tired or about to cry. I had a ton of trouble responding because I don´t speak English anymore and every two seconds I would drop a Portuguese word and then say sorry to you guys in Portuguese! haha It was funny. But finally I got it done and bore my testimony to you in Portuguese. Also I will send that tape to you with a ton of pictures and some films... don´t worry the Mission President doesn´t have a problem with that, he just doesn´t want video cameras because missionaries can waste time making movies with those. It feels really good to be out here far away from Goiania. President doesn´t send you far away if he can´t trust you. Not that I´m prideful but I am glad that I am meeting his goals and he doesn´t have to worry about me making mistakes. Anyway, write back, I don´t have a lot of time, I love you be happy! I will try and respond. Oh, and this is my new address.

I am in love with my new area already. It is a small ward with a major inactivity problem, but we´re gonna change all of that. I love the bishop and his family. He is an amazing bishop and we love to stop by his house when we´re close and amuse his kids and leave them a little lesson about helping their mom. We sang to them one night, and they made us popcorn. Don´t worry we´re not wasting time, we don´t stick around there for too long. It´s hot but dry so I´m in heaven. I love it here, we are going to have a lot of success I can already tell. Anyway, I have to get going I love you a lot and be happy, sorry I didn´t have much time I had to read for 2 weeks of stuff haha. Love you!

Oh, and tell Dad my city is called Uberaba in the state of Mina Gerais. Everything in Uberaba is Uber! haha. Anyway, I gotta go sorry, love you!”

Hey -- you got another pictures on the site! Woo hoo! I can't make it bigger, though, for my old eyes to see. Can you email it to us? That would be fun. So glad he's doing so well! Hard to believe he's a month away from being 20!
